Hey everyone,
First off: Happy New year!
And second: Thank you all for your birthday wishes <3
Last year's been extremely hectic.
Work has been eating most of my time, and since I'm in my last (and therefor busiest) year of school all I've been doing is school work the last half-a-year leaving little time left for art.
Even when I wanted to art I simply couldn't though. Ever since 2011 I've been having wrist issues. My fingers would randomly go numb and my hand would get sore making it very uncomfortable to draw or do anything without taking long breaks in between. Half way into 2011 I noticed a small lumb in my wrist, but it was so small and soft that I wasn't worried about it and so I didn't go see a doctor.
In June of last year it went from bearable to really really bad. My wrist and hand would constantly hurt if I'd spend longer than 10-15 mins drawing. Even when I was relaxing i'd still be in pain and it even made falling asleep/sleeping difficult. I noticed the lump in my wrist had grown way bigger too and wasn't as soft as it used to be. Near August the pain had gotten so bad I finally went to see my doctor.
My own doctor was apparently on vacation and instead a younger woman helped me. I explained to her was was going on and showed her my wrist. She barely looked at it and told me nothing was wrong and that I should just take a good break. I told her that I was on my 2nd month of not drawing and using my wrist and it was still getting worse. All she told me that was that 2 months wasn't enough. I kept pushing it because drawing isn't just a hobby for me, but also my job. She finally gave in and sent me to the hospital to have xrays taken.
The xrays didn't show anything and I was send to a hand and wrist specialist who told me the lump in my wrist was a ganglion cyst. A month later I was back at the hospital to have the cyst surgically removed.
The lump had gotten really small over the course of the month and when he had opened up my wrist he couldn't find anything. Just to be 100% sure nothing was wrong he dug arouns a bit and did some small tests. Whatever he did.. it made the bad pain and discomfort disappear because about a month later I could draw again for more than 15 mins without any pain.
In total all this bs took about 5 months. And that's why I barely drew anything and haven't posted much on DA at all while it was my plan to be a bit more active on here.
So hopefully 2013 will be a better year. The first few months may be slow, because of school, but once I'm done with that (around march or april) I should be back with more art
Maybe some trades and gift art too!
Hope you're all doing awesome! <3
